Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! I've been sharing snippets from the fourth book in my Shifter Towers series, HIS OMEGA ON STAGE. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM paranormal romance. This is the last snippet from this story. In January, I will start sharing from my upcoming release, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET.
Set-up: In last weekend's snippet, things started to heat up between Ash and Jun. And while things were finally heading in the right direction between them, they still had many bumps in the road ahead of them, including paparazzi, medical issues, unemployment, and family issues. At that point, there was still over half the book to go.
This weekend, I'm going to end with a cute snippet, where Jun and Ash are in their shifted forms, playing as leopard cats. They are at TK's beach house, where they have a little more privacy than in the city. Enjoy! (In Ash's point of view)
I raced across the lawn, trying to get away from Jun, though I knew he was much faster than me. Feeling his sudden weight on my back end, I stumbled before we rolled together through the grass. As soon as we stopped, he pinned me down, his teeth digging into my neck. I pushed him off with my front paws then turned over and bit at his tail. He spun around and chomped into my side. He didn’t have a good grip, so I managed to get away. Spotting the garden pond up ahead, I bolted for it then leaped into the water. Behind me, I heard Jun sneeze. He didn’t come in, only batted water at me as he tried to smack me with his paw.
I splashed and rolled in the water for a bit before leaping out and catching Jun by surprise. We tumbled over the rocks and back onto the grass.
**That's eleven, and here's a little more for your reading pleasure.**
I jumped on Jun, but he lay on his side, no longer playing. Was he done? We’d been out in the sun for a while, having fun in the privacy of TK’s beach house. Arriving last night after both working full days, we’d been too tired to do much of anything, except cuddle in bed while talking, until we fell asleep. We’d slept in, too, something I hadn’t done in several weeks. And then after lunch, we’d come out here to play in the yard in our shifted forms.
I circled Jun then chewed on his ear to see if I could get a reaction out of him. He swatted me away before stretching his legs. So, I shifted back to my human form then ran my hand down his sleek, spotted body. As both a leopard cat and a human, he was bigger and stronger than me, but so very gentle. When we played in our shifted forms, he never used his full strength on me.
When I was in high school, I’d always been told to stay away from him, yet was never given a valid reason as to why. We grew up only a couple of blocks from each other, though my brother liked to pretend we were bused in. He had a whole morning routine to not get found out until he had a solid group of friends and then didn’t care. They thought it was cool he came from a rough neighborhood. Though that never stopped Nex’s hatred of Jun. Not once did my brother realize the more he told me to stay away from Jun, the more I wanted him to be my future alpha.
Now, we were dating, and the possibility of him being my alpha was even closer. I petted him some more, enjoying his contented purrs. Then, in the middle of running my hand across his silky, soft fur, he began to shift.
HIS OMEGA ON STAGE
Shifter Towers book four
Jun
For leopard cat shifter, Jun, being the rogue alpha in high school hadn’t helped him as an adult. Though he sometimes believed he was ready to find a mate, past experiences taught him that those he loves eventually leave him. So, he protects his heart by seeing omegas looking for nothing more than a one-night stand. Until he runs into someone from his past.
Ash
As the first omega signed to Adan Records, AI is anxious for the release of his debut album. Being a leopard cat shifter instead of an actual leopard like the rest of his family has always made him feel small and insignificant. But now he’s about to shine bright in front of the world, all on his own, without an alpha by his side. He doesn’t need one, and definitely doesn’t have time for one. Though when he runs into someone from his past who knows him as Ash, he wants to give this alpha all of his attention.
On Stage
But with all the problems that fame brings, will Ash be able to make a relationship work? Will Jun fight for the omega he’s sure is his fated mate? Or will they let each other slip away, believing what they have isn’t enough?NOW AVAILABLE!

Showing them playing in their cat forms was a great idea, Jessica!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ed!
DeleteYou tease! What a place for you to end these delightful snippets!! Though I confess, I am intrigued by the promise of your new story!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy! I'm excited about my new story, too!
DeleteWell done. It was like watching my cats play. Well, up until one started to shift. I don't think my cats shift ;-)
ReplyDeletetweeted.
LOL That would be quite the cat if they did. ;) Thank you, Daryl!
DeleteA nice, fun scene and I enjoyed the backstory details woven in. Very smoothly done! Great snippet...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Veronica!
DeleteFun scene with the cats at play. I don't remember reading any other snippets with them in their animal forms. That must be an odd feeling when they shift under your hand!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenna! I didn't share any other snippets with them in this form, but there are a couple in the book.
DeleteHmm, why would Ash's brother warn him to stay away from Jun? Regardless, it was fun reading about them in their cat forms.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Nex never liked Jun in high school, and when he found out his brother liked him, he did everything he could to keep them apart. He never felt Jun was worthy. Nex was simply a bully.
DeleteLoved the backstory you weaved in while he pet Jun. But you ended too soon! Jun is just beginning to shift to his human form.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a tender yet fun scene! Nice bit of backstory thrown in. :-)
