A kiss from the demon. Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #PNR #MPreg #MLM #Books #Reading #8Sunday

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM (gay) paranormal romance.

Set-up: Last weekend, Jet was waiting for Toby with pizza, in an attempt to gain his trust. With some reluctance, Toby did eat, and with even more resistance, finally agreed to let Jet walk him home. In fact, he starts to meet Toby for lunch on a regular basis and walks him home as well, never asking for anything in return. Not yet.

In this weekend's snippet, Jet has just walked Toby home yet again. And they are saying goodbye. (In Toby's POV)

“Well, I should get inside now. Thank you again for the food and the company.”

“It was and always is my pleasure.”

When he stroked the side of my face with his knuckles, I froze. It was such an intimate touch. At least for me. Then he leaned forward and kissed the corner of my mouth.

“You okay over there, Toby? Need me to bring my broom over?”

I gulped as my cheeks warmed. I glanced past Jet to Mrs. Apple.

**And a few more sentences for your reading pleasure**

She must be feeling well again. “No, I’m good.” I waved to her. “He’s a friend. No need to worry.”

“Okay, I’ll believe you. But he better treat you good.”

Jet gave me a shy smile and dug the toe of his boot into the concrete. Not a look I ever expected to see on him.

“He does,” I called over. “Thank you for your concern. And glad to see you’re feeling better.”

I waited until she sat back in her rocking chair before returning my attention to Jet. “I…I really should be getting in. Mimi will be worried.”

“Okay, I’ll see you Thursday, then.” He reached for my hand and ran his thumb along my palm. “Have a good night.”

“You, too.” I broke contact with him and stepped toward the door. “Thanks again.”

Without looking back, I raced inside. Jet did things to my heart I wasn’t ready to admit. I couldn’t get my hopes up. I just needed to enjoy the present and focus on my grandmother while I still had her. She was the most important person in my life, even if another made me feel special.

DEMON ON JACKSON STREET
Shifter Towers book five

Jet
Once upon a time there was a demon who was the best at convincing people to sell their souls. That was me. Is me. And now I have a new assignment, one Father told me would be difficult. I didn’t know what “difficult” meant until I met the young man, someone who has barely anything. Collecting his soul should be easy, right? There are so many things I can give him. Except, he doesn’t believe he deserves a better life. I have to find something he desires before the assignment is given to my brother. Because Crow uses the most villainous means to obtain souls. Lines I don’t cross. And I don’t want to see Toby hurt. There has to be another way.

Toby
I’m not like them. I can’t shift into a predator to defend myself, or even into a small rodent to run and hide. The wolf shifters know that every time they rough me up and steal my food. I always wish for a guardian angel to protect me from them. Then one day Jet appears, looking nothing like the angel I’d imagined. But I don’t know if I should trust him. He makes me feel things no other alpha ever has. Dangerous things. Not good when I have to stay focused on my grandmother. I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her around.

The demon is waiting for Toby. Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #MLM #PNR #MPreg #Books #Reading

Set-up: Last weekend, Toby realized that he had extra food in his bag of groceries after meeting Jet, and isn't sure how that happened.

This weekend, Jet uses his powers again as he continues to try and gain Toby's trust... (In Jet's POV)

Four hours. I’d been waiting four hours, and Toby still hadn’t been given his lunch break. This place was taking advantage of him, something I’d deal with later, as I’d just noticed him leaving the store. Having watched him enough, I knew he’d come to the exact bench I sat on, whether he brought food to eat or not. He’d simply sit and watch life pass by for thirty minutes then return to the secondhand store to work until the store closed.

As I waited for him to join me, I set my hand over the box of pizza I’d bought, to warm the food up. My story wouldn’t be believable if it was cold. Because my goal was to gain his trust. That’s the only way I could figure out how I was going to get access to his beautiful soul.

“Jet?” Toby stood in front of me, eyebrows furrowed. “What are you doing here?”

A little extra for Toby ~ Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #MPreg #PNR #MLM #8Sunday #Books #Reading

**FREE Kindle ebook** HIS OMEGA ON STAGE is FREE until February 16th!**

Set-up: Last weekend, Jet officially introduced himself to Toby after saving him from his bullies. But, when Toby asks Jet why he came to help him, Jet says he saw him earlier and thought  he could use a friend. Toby doesn't trust that reasoning and wants to get back to his apartment. So, Jet shrugs and leaves.

This weekend, I'm finishing off that chapter, when Toby is back in his apartment, and discovering something abnormal....

“How was your day, Toby?” Mimi asked as soon as I stepped inside the door.

“Um, okay.” I didn’t want to answer questions as to what had transpired and still wasn’t sure myself. But at least I still had food in the bag and her medication. “Would you like some soup?”

“That would be wonderful, Toby.” She adjusted herself in the bed. “Thank you for working so hard and taking such good care of me.”

I shrugged then turned to start putting the groceries away before I began to make dinner. As I removed the contents of the bag, I noticed there was far more than what I’d bought and paid for and more than food.

**And here's a little more...**

On top of the extra cans of soup broth and noodles, there was shampoo and scented body wash, a container of fresh strawberries, and cookies. All stuff I never would have splurged on. Where had it come from? Because I hadn’t seen any of it on the sidewalk when Jet helped me to clean it up. And it’s not as if he’d been carrying anything when he’d arrived so suddenly. None of this made any sense.

Though, I didn’t have any more time to contemplate. Mimi started one of her coughing fits. I rushed to her side to help her sit up and rubbed her back. Eventually, she stopped, and I finished making our dinner. But I still had no idea what to think of that mysterious stranger named Jet.

Toby's Guardian Angel arrives. Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #MPreg #PNR #MLM #8Sunday

Set-up: Last weekend, Toby was walking on his way home, once again wishing for someone to protect him.

This weekend, I'm skipping several sentences of the wolf pack bullying Toby. They have now decided to charge him dues for passing safely. Of course, Toby has no extra money. But now, on to the part you've all been waiting for...

Benji grabbed my hand from behind then jerked me around to face him. “Or you could, you know….”

He stroked a hand down the side of my face, and I felt sick to my stomach. “Leave me alone.”

My cheek stung before I realized he’d slapped me. And all of them laughed as a whimper slipped out.

“Are you fucking deaf? He said to leave him alone.”

All four alphas turned at the same time to face the source of the new voice. And when their looks of surprise and shock turned to snarls, I spun around to see who had temporarily interrupted my torture.

**And here's a little more...**

It was the guy who’d been in and out of the store all day. The hot one. Why was he here? Where had he come from?

He didn’t seem affected by the wolf shifters wanting to pounce on him but instead waved at me. “Hi, Toby.”

How did he know my name, and why had he followed me here? What did he want with me? Was he any better than those he was challenging?

Chad stepped toward the guy, his shoulders raised and his chest puffed out. “You know this piece of shit?”

The guy looked at him and chuckled, showing absolutely no fear. “Yeah, Toby is a friend of mine, and I hope you’ll never refer to him that way again.”

Before I could comprehend what was going on, all four of the wolf shifters attacked the guy. But instead of seeing my new “friend” in the middle of a dogpile, getting beaten within an inch of his life, it was the pack members who ended up scurrying away, whimpering as they went.

The guy brushed his hands off and straightened his clothes before he approached me. He didn’t reach out to shake my hand but simply nodded with a smile. “My name is Jet, in case you were wondering.”

He's the inspiration for the latest romance novel. Can he find the author? SHAMELESS IN SEATTLE by @AlexisSDuran #NewRelease #Romance #MLM #Books #Reading

SHAMELESS IN SEATTLE
by Alexis Duran

Aaron Schafer, star reporter for the Seattle Times, is shocked to find out he's the inspiration for a series of bodice-ripper romances written by a reclusive author no one has met.  He's even more surprised, and disturbed, on discovering intimate secrets from his past buried in the pages of Shameless in Seattle. Who is this mystery author, who has clearly been stalking him and stealing details from his life? Are they dangerous? And worse, will they reveal Aaron's darkest secret to the world? Aaron decides to stalk the stalker, a decision that just might change both of their lives.

AVAILABLE FROM:

Shameless In Seattle - Chapter One

The twist of Melanie's lips confirmed Aaron's darkest fears. Add the sparkle in her eyes and the way she lightly fingered the pink straw in her drink and he knew he was doomed. Instinct told him to leave her sitting there, go home, eat a tub of ice cream and forget all about the message she'd left on his phone.

Instead, because curiosity hadn't killed him yet but it did pay the bills, he threw his satchel on one of the empty seats at her curbside table and sat down.

"So what's the big joke?" he asked.

She batted her thick lashes at him. "Did I say there was a joke?"

"Well, all the laughing you were doing when you asked me to meet you indicated some sort of humorous development at my expense."

"It's not a bad thing. It's flattering. Any man with sense would be flattered."

"Oh, no. No more blind dates with hapless clients, Mel. I don't care how hot or hung he is."

"Nothing like that, I swear. So how are you, Aaron? Order a drink or two, then we'll talk."

He shook his head, leaned back and tried to relax. He'd half expected her to have another potential mate sitting beside her when he arrived, so he took a moment to be thankful she was alone. Ever since his misguided fling with Melanie Parker, she'd adopted him as her pet project. Instead of taking his decision to stick strictly with men personal, she'd rallied to the cause and seemed determined to hook him up with desperate ex-cons. Her job as a defense lawyer gave her an endless supply.

He nodded at the waiter, Vic, who nodded back and bee-lined for the bar. "I'm fine," he said.

"Fucked-up, Insecure, Neurotic and Egotistical? How nice. Glad nothing's changed."

"Why am I here?" he asked.

"Because you love me. I know you're still pining, poor dear." She patted his forearm and slurped her drink. Truth was, Mel was like the nosy older sister he already had and didn't need any more of. Still, she was compelling, like a runaway train headed straight for him. He couldn't quite make himself jump off the track.

Vic the waiter set down Aaron's usual Chocolate Stout in front of him and another froo-froo mixed drink in front of Mel. He smiled at Aaron, fussed with the napkins and coasters and slipped away.

"Victor's cute. How about him?"

"Stop it."

"How long has it been?"

"Not long enough."

"You're crabby when you're not getting laid."

"How are things with Mel? Still supporting that homeless alcoholic while he's being sued by his ex-wives?"

"Andy isn't homeless. He's between permanent residences."

Aaron sipped his beer and felt better. Tension eased off him. He'd worked late again, getting a story in just under deadline. A diverting drink with Mel kept him from brooding at home, and Pioneer Square was hopping on a warm end-of-summer evening. He suspected it might be Friday night. He checked his phone rather than ask Mel and open himself up to ridicule about the dire state of his social life. Yup. Friday the 13th. Oh, swell.

"I don't suppose you read many romances, do you?" she asked nonchalantly.

"Oh, sure. I've got stacks of them hidden in the closet. Why?"

"Well." She looked around furtively before reaching into her enormous handbag and removing a paperback with a garishly bright cover. Further inspection revealed a glossy, embossed image of a male model posing as a tough guy of some sort, shirt open to his belly button, wielding a huge gun. A buxom blonde clung to his back but managed to contort in a way designed to expose maximum amounts of her impressive cleavage. In the background, the skyline of Seattle burned.

"What the hell?"

"It's the latest in the Shameless in Seattle series. I'm totally addicted. Hot, hot, hot."

"It looks ridiculous."

"Don't let the cover throw you, it's retro on purpose, kind of tongue in cheek. The story is luscious. And funny. And the action happens in places we know; places we know real well, like this place." She waved the book over her head.

"Pioneer Square?"

"No, silly. This bar. The Waterworks. And Martini Heaven. All the usual spots, and even unusual ones like Squid Row on Capital Hill and the offices at the courthouse."

"Really? Do you know the author?"

"No. She's apparently a bit of a recluse. And the name is a pseudonym, obviously."

Aaron noted the name on the cover for the first time. Olympia Konstantin. He lifted his gaze to stare into Mel's too happy green eyes.

"Are you Olympia? Are you writing this trash?"

"What? Me?" She hooted so loud other tables of drinkers looked over. "No! But you must know the writer."

"Why?"

"Because this guy—" She waved her hand across the muscled torso on the cover like Vanna White displaying the wonders of a brand new mini-van. "Is you."
