Caught in a sand storm ~ Read my Weekend Writing Warriors excerpt from GENJ #Romance #MMRomance #SciFiRomance #KaddimBrothers

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Hello everyone! Thank you to all those who came to visit me last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from my new release, GENJ, the second book in my Sci-Fi MPreg MM Romance series, KADDIM BROTHERS.

Set-up: Last weekend Vawn guessed that Utahn was pregnant, but Utahn told him not to tell Genj. I'm skipping to the next chapter this week. Genj and Utahn are talking again, but Genj still doesn't know Utahn is pregnant.

In this snippet, Genj is on the planet Harasa for another race. He hasn't seen Utahn in person since their first weekend together, as he is always training or racing on other planets. Enjoy!

Grit scratched my eyes as I shielded my face with my forearm and clutched onto the closest body. I needed to get myself, and anyone else I could find along the way, indoors to escape the sudden sandstorm. Out on the tarmac with my team, I’d been watching the acrobatics show that often preceded the second round of preliminary races during race weekends. ORIXA had easily won the first round the day before, and we had nothing to do except wait until the final race the following day. Finally, we’d get a chance to perform a new maneuver where I was going to take the lead. It involved some rolls we’d just seen the smaller acrobatic jets perform. The sandstorm had come out of nowhere, not part of any weather forecast for Harasa that we’d seen before or since we’d arrived.

Knowing how difficult it was to land in such conditions, I’d remained outside to try and help the incoming pilots. The storm was now to the point where I couldn’t catch sight of anything beyond millions of particles of sand whipping past my face. I’d closed my eyes and reached out for anybody I could grasp, pulling them in the direction where I thought and hoped the closest hangar was.

*And some more if you're interested...

The being stumbled along at my side, perhaps with more sand in their eyes than me. We’d likely only been walking for a few minutes, but it had felt like hours when I couldn’t see, and I wasn’t familiar with this area. Eventually I heard someone shouting over the constant roar of the wind. A welcome sound. As long as it wasn’t my imagination playing tricks on me.

My ears popped as I was grabbed and yanked into a building.

“We got you. Both of you.”

I finally let go of the being I had dragged along with me and caught my balance, a surprising feat considering my usual ungraceful ways. I couldn’t see a thing, my eyes burning and watering from all the particles that had been whipped at my face. If I’d had my helmet, I could have avoided the feeling of tiny shards of glass tearing at my eyeballs, but it was sitting in the cockpit of my jet.

GENJ
Kaddim Brothers book two

Genj is a cinnamon roll alpha. Even as one of the circuit’s best space racers, he’s shy and rather clumsy. Not qualities anyone wants in a mate, especially the omega he’s crushed on for years. But when Genj invites Utahn on a whim to visit him for a weekend, the omega agrees.

Utahn never expected his best friend’s older brother to reciprocate his feelings. Genj is a space racer, and everyone in the universe knows they rarely commit. When the two get together, sparks fly. And what once seemed impossible becomes a dream come true.

But situations change. And past relationships have a way of interfering with new ones. Can Genj and Utahn work through past traumas, or were they never meant to be more than a childhood crush?

Sharing secrets with his best friend ~ Weekend Writing Warriors excerpt from GENJ #Romance #MMRomance #SciFiRomance #KaddimBrothers

Set-up: Last weekend Vawn showed up to check on his best friend, Utahn, after Genj said he hadn't heard from him in a while.

Enjoy!

When I finally stopped, there was a cold, damp cloth on the back of my neck. Vawn took the bowl away then held another cloth to my forehead as he guided me to the stairs at the back of the bakery that led up to my apartment.

“You’re going to lie down, and I will take care of the prep work tonight.”

“But I still have a lot to do.” I tried to halt myself, but I barely had enough energy to stand. “You have your own job. And a family. I can’t expect you to do anything for me.”

He ignored me, instead walking me up the stairs and setting me on my couch. “Ojo is home and is fully capable of taking care of the kids.” After disappearing for a moment, Vawn returned with a bucket, crackers, and a glass of water. “Now, wanna tell me why you’re sick? Should I quarantine from my family for the next few days, or is it not contagious?”

*And some more if you're interested...

I sighed, knowing I wouldn’t be able to hide anything from my best friend. But I couldn’t go through the same pain as the last time I’d been with child. “You can’t tell Genj.”

Vawn shook his head and sat beside me. “You’re pregnant, aren’t you?”

I nodded, sensing his disappointment. Why couldn’t I do anything right? Between relationships, running a bakery, and being pregnant, I always seemed to fuck everything up.

Wrapping his arms around me, Vawn rested his chin on my shoulder. “I’m happy for you. But I wish you’d told me sooner, so I didn’t have to walk in and find you like this.”

What is Utahn trying to hide? Weekend Writing Warriors excerpt from GENJ #MMRomance #SciFiRomance #Romance #KaddimBrothers

Set-up: Last weekend we saw Utahn struggling with a lot on his plate while refusing to ask for help.

This weekend, I'm skipping a few sentences to bring in another character to help reveal what's going on with Utahn. Remember two weekends ago when Genj was going to call Vawn to find out how he'd messed things up with Utahn? Enjoy!

“Hey, Ut! Are you still working?”

I took a deep breath at the sound of my best friend’s voice. I couldn’t let him see me like this. “Yep. Just finishing up.”

Vawn came barreling around the corner but stopped immediately when he saw me leaning against the wall. “What’s wrong? What’s going on?”

“Nothing.” I pushed off the wall and hoped I could remain standing. “It’s been a long day. That’s all.”

*And some more if you're interested...

He darted in front of me and brushed something off my cheek. Likely some rolef I’d missed. “I don’t believe you. You’re pale and sweating. Are you sick?”

“No.” I shook my head. I couldn’t tell him the truth. Not yet. “Exhausted. I want to go up to bed, but I have to finish prepping for tomorrow.”

Vawn narrowed his eyes while holding my arms. “Where’s Toufan? I thought he helped with this.”

I glanced down so he wouldn’t see me wince when my stomach twisted once again. “He quit last week.” Unable to say more, I turned from his grasp to make another dash to the bathroom but failed to get there in time. I grabbed the closest bowl instead.

What's wrong with Utahn? Weekend Writing Warriors from GENJ #MMRomance #SciFiRomance #Romance #KaddimBrothers

Set-up: Last weekend Genj revealed to Ret what was going on (or not going on) between him and Utahn. FYI, Genj did talk to Vawn, but his younger brother knew as little as he did because he'd been busy with work. But, he vowed to check on Utahn.

This weekend, I'm skipping to the next chapter, so we can learn a little more from Utahn. This is in Utahn's point of view. Enjoy!

I wiped my mouth with a clean cloth but still managed to get rolef all over my face. It was the third time I’d had to run to the bathroom since I had closed the bakery for the day. I wanted to lie down on the floor and disappear into it. Though the likelihood of that happening was zilch. And it wouldn’t help me finish all the prep I had to do for tomorrow. It seemed like I had no time to relax since Gugait left to be with his mate and start a family, followed by Toufan quitting a week later. And now, I had another issue to deal with.

But I could handle it. I stood up straight and wiped my hands on my apron. This was my dream. I would make it work. All of it. I had to.

"How did I f*ck this up?" Weekend Writing Warriors from GENJ #Romance #MMRomance #SciFiRomance #KaddimBrothers

Set-up: Last weekend Genj almost clipped Ilam's jet during simulation practice because he wasn't focused. I was going to skip to the next chapter, which is in Utahn's point of view, to give you all some answers, but I think I'll stay in this chapter for at least another week....

This weekend, I'm skipping Ret yelling at Genj and threatening to kick him off the team, to where we learn a little bit more from Genj about what's going on.

Ret rested a hand on my shoulder. “Look. I don’t mean to come down hard on you, but I don’t want any of my team members to die. Including you.” He kicked the foot plate under the simulator. “Stars, Genj, what’s got you distracted anyway?”

My older brother asking me what was on my mind seemed strange. He’d never really cared before, only gotten involved in helping Utahn and I get together because he wanted me to shut up about him. Though I didn’t remember talking about him much. Only thinking about him. Like I was now. “You sure you want to know?”

And a bit more...

He swatted my head. “I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t. Now, tell me.”

“It’s Utahn. I haven’t heard from him in a while.”

Ret shrugged. “Maybe he’s busy.”

I shook my head. “Maybe, but I think there’s more to it. He was texting or chatting with me every day. No matter what. Then I got only brief messages every now and again. Now, nothing. How did I fuck this up?”

After releasing a heavy breath, my brother shifted his stance. “This is why I don’t do relationships. I have no fucking clue how they work. One-night stands are much easier.”

I rolled my eyes. He wasn’t helping at all.

Ret slapped the top of the doorframe. “Talk to Vawn. He knows Utahn better than anyone. He’ll tell you exactly how you fucked things up.”
