Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! I've been sharing snippets from the fourth book in my Shifter Towers series, HIS OMEGA ON STAGE. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM paranormal romance. Just three more snippets from this story until I start sharing from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET in January.
Set-up: In last weekend's snippet, Ash invited Jun up to his apartment for pizza. Still very much in denial about the possibility of a relationship with Ash, Jun reluctantly agrees.
This weekend, I'm skipping ahead again. They've finished the pizza, and Jun agreed to stay a little longer to watch a movie with Ash. Yeah, he's not ready to leave yet. Enjoy! (In Jun's point of view)
“Okay, then.” He scrolled through a list then clicked on one I hadn’t heard of. “I’ve been wanting to watch this with someone.” After tucking his feet up beside him, he leaned his head on my shoulder.
His scent hit me again. Hard. To the point where I felt like I did have that beer and several more on top of that. I tried so hard to focus on the movie, to follow along while the hero tried to save his abducted omega and children.
The sweet smell fogged my brain. Made other parts of my body more responsive though.
**That's ten, but here's a little more for your reading pleasure.**
Especially when, with every suspenseful moment, Ash’s hand moved. At first, he gripped my fingers. Then the tips reached out to my thigh. Eventually, his whole palm rested on my leg. And I had no desire to move it. Only needed to control my breathing and the racing of my heart. Not things a “friend” should have to be worried about.
“Jun?”
I glanced over at him, not realizing his head had left my shoulder. Instead, his big, beautiful eyes stared directly into mine. I gulped, trying to push down the urges of my leopard cat. “Yeah?”
And he kissed me. A quick peck on the lips before he returned his head to my shoulder, as if nothing had happened.
HIS OMEGA ON STAGE
Shifter Towers book four
Jun
For leopard cat shifter, Jun, being the rogue alpha in high school hadn’t helped him as an adult. Though he sometimes believed he was ready to find a mate, past experiences taught him that those he loves eventually leave him. So, he protects his heart by seeing omegas looking for nothing more than a one-night stand. Until he runs into someone from his past.
Ash
As the first omega signed to Adan Records, AI is anxious for the release of his debut album. Being a leopard cat shifter instead of an actual leopard like the rest of his family has always made him feel small and insignificant. But now he’s about to shine bright in front of the world, all on his own, without an alpha by his side. He doesn’t need one, and definitely doesn’t have time for one. Though when he runs into someone from his past who knows him as Ash, he wants to give this alpha all of his attention.
On Stage
But with all the problems that fame brings, will Ash be able to make a relationship work? Will Jun fight for the omega he’s sure is his fated mate? Or will they let each other slip away, believing what they have isn’t enough?NOW AVAILABLE!

Great tension in this scene. It's also a good example of the truth that what happens in a scene -- a quick peck -- is nowhere near as important or interesting as what that action means to a character.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ed! Yes, very true.
DeleteShe won't be able to focus on the movie now with that scent! I think he overdid it with the cologne on purpose, tee-hee! One thing I noticed though was there could have been a semi-colon between the last two sentences of the snippet since they are related. Probably doesn't matter now, assuming this book has already been published. Anyway, neat snippet!
ReplyDeleteThere is no she in this snippet, but thanks
DeleteI love how Jun's resistance is slowly crumbling. I'll be curious to see how he reacts if Ash makes any more advances. Nicely written!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie! Be sure to visit next weekend to find out what Jun does next.
DeleteJun's tension as he tries to deny his arousal is palpable. I think that peck is all it will take to unravel him.
ReplyDeleteYes, he's very close to that point. More next weekend. ;)
DeleteLovely. The quick kiss really sums up where they are. Life in a moment.
ReplyDeleteYes, true.
DeleteBurning tension - when will he break?
ReplyDeleteHe's very close!
DeleteAsh is escalating the tension and just daring Jun to respond. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYes, he is. Thank you!
DeleteAs if nothing happened - HA! Loved the snippet and the subtle moves he's making...really well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Veronica!
DeleteLots of tension. Things are heating up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, subtle scene. Jun's being seduced in spite of himself!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy! Yes, he is. :D
DeleteLovely scene and the beginning for more. :)
ReplyDeleteAsh has a plan to make Jun's defenses crumble and it seems to be working famously. I think Jun is about to fall and fall hard. Great tension in this snippet!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenna! Yes, Jun's walls are crumbling.
