A little extra for Toby ~ Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #MPreg #PNR #MLM #8Sunday #Books #Reading

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM (gay) paranormal romance.

**FREE Kindle ebook** HIS OMEGA ON STAGE is FREE until February 16th!**

Set-up: Last weekend, Jet officially introduced himself to Toby after saving him from his bullies. But, when Toby asks Jet why he came to help him, Jet says he saw him earlier and thought  he could use a friend. Toby doesn't trust that reasoning and wants to get back to his apartment. So, Jet shrugs and leaves.

This weekend, I'm finishing off that chapter, when Toby is back in his apartment, and discovering something abnormal....

“How was your day, Toby?” Mimi asked as soon as I stepped inside the door.

“Um, okay.” I didn’t want to answer questions as to what had transpired and still wasn’t sure myself. But at least I still had food in the bag and her medication. “Would you like some soup?”

“That would be wonderful, Toby.” She adjusted herself in the bed. “Thank you for working so hard and taking such good care of me.”

I shrugged then turned to start putting the groceries away before I began to make dinner. As I removed the contents of the bag, I noticed there was far more than what I’d bought and paid for and more than food.

**And here's a little more...**

On top of the extra cans of soup broth and noodles, there was shampoo and scented body wash, a container of fresh strawberries, and cookies. All stuff I never would have splurged on. Where had it come from? Because I hadn’t seen any of it on the sidewalk when Jet helped me to clean it up. And it’s not as if he’d been carrying anything when he’d arrived so suddenly. None of this made any sense.

Though, I didn’t have any more time to contemplate. Mimi started one of her coughing fits. I rushed to her side to help her sit up and rubbed her back. Eventually, she stopped, and I finished making our dinner. But I still had no idea what to think of that mysterious stranger named Jet.

DEMON ON JACKSON STREET
Shifter Towers book five

Jet
Once upon a time there was a demon who was the best at convincing people to sell their souls. That was me. Is me. And now I have a new assignment, one Father told me would be difficult. I didn’t know what “difficult” meant until I met the young man, someone who has barely anything. Collecting his soul should be easy, right? There are so many things I can give him. Except, he doesn’t believe he deserves a better life. I have to find something he desires before the assignment is given to my brother. Because Crow uses the most villainous means to obtain souls. Lines I don’t cross. And I don’t want to see Toby hurt. There has to be another way.

Toby
I’m not like them. I can’t shift into a predator to defend myself, or even into a small rodent to run and hide. The wolf shifters know that every time they rough me up and steal my food. I always wish for a guardian angel to protect me from them. Then one day Jet appears, looking nothing like the angel I’d imagined. But I don’t know if I should trust him. He makes me feel things no other alpha ever has. Dangerous things. Not good when I have to stay focused on my grandmother. I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her around.

  1. Nice! :) A little mystery tossed in. I wonder how Jet did it--just how many powers he has. :-)

    1. As a demon, he has unlimited powers. But, he doesn't feel the need to use them all. Thanks Teresa!

  2. Your demon, Jet, looks a lot like a a Vancouver Canucks farmhand named Jet Woo. Is that a coincidence?

    1. Honestly, I'd never heard of Jett Woo until today, so definitely a coincidence. Haven't been a fan of hockey players since high school.

  4. How charming and how strategic, Jet is. Providing a few small luxuries to tantalize and entice, but not overwhelm. Lovely.

  7. What a sweet thing for Jet to do. And him being a demon--much more like guardian angel in this snippet.

    1. LOL He's not looking for his heart, just his trust. Or, so he tells himself. ;)

  9. Ah - a kind gift from Jet. Not perhaps usual for a demon.

    1. Definitely unusual, but Toby is not like the other souls he's had to collect.
