The cute guy with the piercings and tattoos. Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #PNR #MLM #MPreg #Reading

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET. Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM (gay) paranormal romance.

Set-up: Last weekend, Toby saw Jet for the first time. Though, he couldn't see anything more than a dark, hooded figure.

This weekend, Toby sees Jet again. He has no idea it's the same guy.

Again? I had to be imagining things. And that wouldn’t surprise me with how little sleep and food I’d had the last couple of weeks. Though, if my mind had created a cute guy to peek in at me while working, I don’t think he would have as many piercings. The guy that kept staring probably had tattoos under his clothes as well.

I had to admit he was hot, though, with dark-brown hair that reached down to his sharp jawline with textured waves, dark, piercing eyes, and the cutest, contrasting smile that made the skin in the outer corners of his eyes wrinkle. He wore a black silk shirt under a leather jacket and fitted black pants. Most likely an alpha, and I doubted he bought those clothes from this place. Yet, he only seemed to show up when I was in the back sorting or doing laundry. When I was in the main part of the store, he was nowhere to be seen.

**And here's a little more...**

I sighed and turned away from the sight of him. No matter how good he looked, I couldn’t trust him. He’d want something from me, and I couldn’t give anyone anything. Not when I had nothing to give.

I was thankful he wasn’t around for the end of my shift. And, as per usual on Mondays, I picked up my grandmother’s prescription and some food on the way home. When I heard the first howl two blocks from home, I changed my mind. I wanted that guy, whomever he was, near me, to protect me from the wolf pack.

DEMON ON JACKSON STREET
Shifter Towers book five

Jet
Once upon a time there was a demon who was the best at convincing people to sell their souls. That was me. Is me. And now I have a new assignment, one Father told me would be difficult. I didn’t know what “difficult” meant until I met the young man, someone who has barely anything. Collecting his soul should be easy, right? There are so many things I can give him. Except, he doesn’t believe he deserves a better life. I have to find something he desires before the assignment is given to my brother. Because Crow uses the most villainous means to obtain souls. Lines I don’t cross. And I don’t want to see Toby hurt. There has to be another way.

Toby
I’m not like them. I can’t shift into a predator to defend myself, or even into a small rodent to run and hide. The wolf shifters know that every time they rough me up and steal my food. I always wish for a guardian angel to protect me from them. Then one day Jet appears, looking nothing like the angel I’d imagined. But I don’t know if I should trust him. He makes me feel things no other alpha ever has. Dangerous things. Not good when I have to stay focused on my grandmother. I don’t know how much longer I’ll have her around.

Who is the dark, hooded figure? Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #Romance #PNR #MPreg #MLM #8Sunday #books #reading

Set-up: Last weekend, I introduced Jet, and the sibling rivalry he had with his brother, Crow.

This weekend, I was going to share the moment where Jet is given Toby as his new assignment, but that excerpt is posted on the blog, That's What I'm Talking About, if you want to read it. So, I'm skipping to chapter three, where Toby sees Jet for the first time. Though he doesn't know who he is.

Once again, when I was two blocks from home, I felt eyes on me. I had nothing for them to take this time, so I hoped the wolf shifters would leave me alone.

Quickening my pace, I stared straight ahead, focused only on my destination and getting home without incident. But a shadow rushed by me, and suddenly there was a dark, hooded figure standing in front of my building. No one I knew. I ground to a halt. It was too dark to pick out any noticeable features on the person, but they didn’t appear to be part of Benji’s pack. And they seemed to be alone.

“What do you want?” Might as well get this confrontation over with as quick as possible so I could get back to my grandmother.

**And here's a little more...**

But the figure didn’t answer, only tilted his head to the side.

“I have no money and no food. You’re wasting your time with me.”

The figure stepped back and motioned for me to enter the building.

I didn’t know whether to trust them, so I approached slowly, and, when I was close enough to the entrance, I dashed inside. Though I swore I heard the figure say, “I’ll see you again, Toby,” in a deep voice as I passed.

Should I be relieved or worried? No one else seemed to be around, and the guy hadn’t harmed me. But would he the next time he found me? And what exactly did he want? I wasn’t looking forward to our next encounter.

Return to Jackson Street with the SHIFTER TOWERS series! #Romance #PNR #MPreg #Shifter #Omegaverse #Books #Reading

Return to Jackson Street
Earlier this week, the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET, released. It is an MPreg MLM Paranormal Romance. And while this story is part of the Shifter Towers series, most of this story takes place on Jackson Street.

Jackson Street has been mentioned in previous titles from this series. In fact, many of the main and some secondary characters grew up there.

So, I thought I’d share snippets from each of the stories in the series about growing up on Jackson Street…

From Bunny Omega on the Run: This snippet is a conversation between Kish, one of the main characters, and Tati Nan, a fashion designer. Tati has brought over a suit for Kish to try on that he will wear to dinner with his boyfriend, TK, a global pop star. This will be the first time they will be seen out in public together.

She shoved past me into my apartment. “I want to see it on you. Want to make sure it fits.”

I glanced out the door and through the hallway window to the street. No cars in front of the building. “Um, where exactly did you park? This neighborhood isn’t exactly trustworthy.” Maybe her car had already been stolen.

“My partner dropped me off.” She laid the clothing bag over the back of my sole kitchen chair. “And I know exactly what this neighborhood is like. I grew up a couple streets over. Not exactly Jackson Street, but pretty close to it.”

I closed and locked the door, nodding in agreement.

From Mink Omega in Hiding: Roan is hiding in the bathroom at a restaurant, as he is afraid to meet Hansol’s famous friends. Little did he know, one of them was in the bathroom with him.

Suddenly desperate to make a good impression, I took the guy’s advice. He even showed me the best way to hold my shirt so it dried quickly. And when I was dressed again, he held out his hand. “I’m Kish by the way.”

I felt the blood drain from my face as I shook his hand. “You’re him? Model? TK’s mate?”

“That’s me.” He smiled, and it was right then I knew what TK and whoever had hired him to model had seen in him. I never would have guessed he was from Jackson Street. “You’ve already met one of us, and it wasn’t so bad.”

“I...I guess.” How had I been talking to someone so famous and not noticed?

Kish laughed and patted me on the back. “You’re too cute. TK is going to love you.”

From Pika Omega Plus One: Yoni is a field reporter for Saramto Shifter News Network, and has finished work for the day.

Anxious to leave the station, I loaded my laptop and phone into my messenger bag and headed to the equipment room to sign out what I would need for the interviews tomorrow. I was still too new to get a station vehicle to use, but my daily travel costs were paid for, and the hospital was easily accessible by public transportation between both my apartment and the station. Plus, it wasn’t as if I had to travel anywhere near Jackson Street—the one neighborhood Dannie had warned me to avoid, no matter how big the story seemed. So, I usually left my car at home, unless I drove back to Bolton.

From His Omega on Stage: Going to share two snippets from this story.

1) Jun is on his way to work. It’s a day that will change his life. He just doesn’t know it yet.

After a shower to wake my ass up, I got dressed then snatched a protein bar on my way out the door. I caught the first bus of the morning, and, instead of taking it to the LRT station, I got off a few blocks from Main Street and walked the rest of the way to Shifter Towers. I needed some exercise before being stuck inside all day. Most people in Saramto wouldn’t walk the streets this early in the morning, while it was still dark, but I lived a block from the worst part of Jackson Street. Downtown was nothing compared to my neighborhood.

2) Jun is at Adan Records to interview for a new job, but TK wanted to introduce him to Dannie, first. In this snippet, some of the other characters who grew up on Jackson Street are mentioned. (TK speaks first.)

“Are you staying at Ash’s again, or do I need to send my driver to get you before he arrives at my place?”

I rubbed the back of my neck. “I’m not sure. We haven’t really talked about that yet.”

“Cute.” Dannie chuckled. “Everyone I’ve met who grew up on and around Jackson Street is the same. Street smart, but shit when it comes to discussing the next step in their relationship.”

TK swatted his friend. “Hey, Ash and Jun’s relationship is still new, but I was once like that, too. And if you want to move in with Tati, why don’t you bring up the idea instead of waiting for her?”

“Tati Nan?” I covered my mouth, not having meant to blurt out the name of the famous designer. There was no way she could have grown up around me. They were likely talking about someone else anyway.

From Demon on Jackson Street: Toby is on his way home from work.

As I made my way to my apartment building on the corner of George and Jackson Streets, I continuously looked behind me to see if I was being followed. As an omega, it was imperative I constantly know of my surroundings. But being one of only a handful of non-shifters in the whole metropolis of Saramto made me an even bigger target for alphas looking to cause trouble.

Jackson Street may not be the best neighborhood, but none of these characters every forget where they’re from.

Which brother can collect more souls? Read a snippet from DEMON ON JACKSON STREET #PNR #MPreg #Romance #MLM #8Sunday

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series, DEMON ON JACKSON STREET. It is set to release MONDAY! Like all the other books in this series, it is an MM paranormal romance.

*FREE! From Monday, January 18 to Friday, January 22, the second book in the series, MINK OMEGA IN HIDING, will be FREE on Amazon.

Set-up: Last weekend, I shared with you a little bit more about Toby's life, how he had Benji's gang after him lately, and no one to protect him from them.

This weekend, I was going to share a bit more of Toby's life, but I shared the entire first chapter of this story on my blog this past week. So, I'm skipping to chapter two. If you missed the posts with the first chapter, you can find them here and here. Now, in chapter two, I'd like to introduce Jet...

“And another soul for me.” I clicked my fingers in the air, rubbing it in my older brother’s face that I was a better demon than him and always would be. “That’s 3,495 for me. Have you even reached 2,000 yet?”

Crow glared at me, and, though I could see the fire in his eyes, I wasn’t worried. I knew my worth.

He balled his fists. “One day you will fail. Father has predicted it. And on that day, I will knock you down where you belong.”

**And here's a little more...**

I laughed. Father had nothing but praise for me. My brother was holding onto false hopes. “You’re as bad as these humans with their greedy dreams. You should be careful, Crow, or you’ll sell your soul to me just to experience the false reality where you’re better than me.”

His bottom lip stuck out in a pout as he continued to glare. “You wait.”

Why would I wait when I could stay ahead? I wasn’t going to stand around until I received my next assignment to collect souls. I knew the perfect place to do so and have fun while I was there. I glanced at the watch I wore to maintain my human façade. “No time. Got a party to go to. Be sure to say hello to dear Father after you stomp your way back to the Dark Realm.”

Toby's only friend. Read chapter one of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET before it releases! #Romance #MPreg #PNR #Books #Reading

Hello! It's only a few days before the release of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET, the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series. I've been sharing snippets from the story as part of Weekend Writing Warriors, but yesterday and today, I'm sharing the entire first chapter with you. If you missed the first part of chapter one, you can find it here. TW // There is bullying described in this chapter, as well as in other parts of the book.

Chapter One continued...
Toby

As he dumped the rest of the milk into the sewer, Chad took out a can of the soup broth and whipped it at the abandoned car across the street, smashing the last unbroken window.

“Bananas.” Dan grabbed the bunch. “Do you and your granny get freaky with these? You know, if you need a fuck buddy during your heat, you can always call one of us.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and wiped my eyes to stop the tears threatening to fall. What I needed was for them to leave me alone. And I never wanted an alpha like any of them. Even if I ever did go into heat. I’d rather be by myself for the rest of my life.

Benji knocked the bananas out of his hand and stomped on them. My food was being ruined before my eyes, and I could do nothing to stop it from happening. I’d tried before and ended up with a black eye and various other bruises.

Chad dumped the bag of noodles and the last can of soup onto the sidewalk before kicking the packages onto the road. Then he tossed the empty bag away.

“Let’s go.” Benji nodded up the street. “He doesn’t have anything good so let’s see who else we can find.”

I never had anything good, but at no time had that ever stopped them from checking. Sometimes I got home safely with all my food, but, on nights like this, I wished for someone to protect me from them.

As soon as I was sure they’d left, I walked over to pick up the package of broken noodles and the dented can of chicken broth. Everything else was ruined. We’d have to make do again, but at least there was something salvageable left this time.

I stepped into the apartment building with tears streaming down my cheeks. Why did this always have to happen to me? I’d never done anything wrong in my entire life. I went to school and had done well throughout my childhood, and, when Mimi got sick, I gave up everything to take care of her, finding the first job I could to keep a steady flow of income. Then my hours kept getting cut, and my grandmother’s home care workers kept canceling. I was doing so much on my own yet continued to get further behind. And now I had Benji and his gang after me for no reason.

I leaned against the wall outside our one-bedroom apartment and tried to gain some composure before going inside. I couldn’t let my grandmother see me in this condition. She often called me her guardian angel for taking care of her. Though, she’d done the same for me, raising me from a baby. I had no idea what had happened to my parents. No matter how many times I asked, she refused to tell me. She said I had her and nothing else mattered. But I wouldn’t have her forever. She got worse every day, even with the medication. And in the future, when she finally succumbed to her illness, where would that leave me? Would I get my own guardian angel?

I shouldn’t think like that. I wiped away more tears. I had to focus on her right now and not be so selfish. I had to be thankful for all I did have.

As I stepped inside, my grandmother called for me. “Toby, is that you? Why are you so late?”

“It is me, Mimi.” I put the noodles and broth on the kitchen counter then took her medication from my jacket pocket. Thank goodness no one had gotten hold of that. “Just got out of work a little late. Are you okay? Are you hungry?”

“I’m okay. I was simply worried about you.” She smiled at me from her bed in the living room. “I’m glad you’re home now. Marlene was here a couple hours ago. She actually showed up for a change. But I am hungry. Could you make me some soup?”

“Sure, Mimi. Anything for you.”

I’d have to ration our food until I worked again, but as long as my grandmother got something to eat, I’d be okay. I didn’t know how much time I had left with her, but I wanted to keep her around as long as possible. She was the only family, the only friend I had.

Come back tomorrow to read a snippet from chapter two, as part of Weekend Writing Warriors, where you will be introduced to Jet!

Read chapter one of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET before it releases! #Romance #PNR #MPreg #Books #Reading

Hello! It's only a few days before the release of DEMON ON JACKSON STREET, the fifth book in my Shifter Towers series. I've been sharing snippets from the story as part of Weekend Writing Warriors, but today and tomorrow, I'm going to share the entire first chapter with you. TW // There is bullying described in this chapter, as well as in other parts of the book.

Chapter One
Toby

“Here’s your money.”

I took the bills from the shift manager as she closed the cash register. Forty dollars for a ten-hour shift. Not even minimum wage, but it was money I didn’t have to claim on my taxes. Money that would go toward paying for my grandmother’s weekly medication and allow me to pick up a few groceries as well. “Thank you. Would you like me to come in tomorrow?”

“Naw.” Becky waved her hand in the air. “We don’t need you again until Thursday. Eleven a.m. Don’t be late.”

I nodded, though I didn’t understand why she always said that to me. I’d never been late since she’d been promoted to manager after a month of working at the secondhand store or for the two years I’d worked there before she’d even started.

I grabbed my jacket from the staff room at the back then left the store. At the other end of the strip mall was the drugstore where I had Mimi’s prescription filled.

Mr. Gilli had the medication ready for me when I stepped up to the counter. “Good evening, Toby. How was your day?”

“Fine, thank you.” My response never varied. Because nothing in my life ever changed. I worked a dead-end job for next to nothing, and, when I wasn’t there, I was with my sick grandmother. Never anywhere else. And it’s not as if there would ever be any departure from the monotony that was my life.
“Well, say hi to your grandmother for me.”

“I will. Thank you.” After paying for the medication and tucking it into the inside pocket of my coat, I walked through the aisles to get a few groceries. I picked up a couple cans of chicken broth, a bag of egg noodles, a jug of milk, and some bananas. At the cash register, I gave the last of my money to the clerk then took the paper bag of food and headed home.

The sun had already set, so I walked on the side of George Street with the streetlights. Some of them had been burned out for months, but it was still better than the dark shadows on the other side.

I couldn’t shift to escape danger or fight back, so I had no choice but to stand there and take their harassment until they got bored with me.

I was nearly home, only a block away, when I heard a wolf whistle. Heart racing, I paused, trying to figure out my best course of action. I darted around the corner, only steps away from the front entrance when the noise came again. From right in front of me.

“Look who we have here.” Benji, a wolf shifter who was the self-proclaimed head alpha on the block, stepped into the glow from the streetlight up ahead. “A lonely omega with a bag full of groceries for us. How kind.”

As his three cronies stepped out of the shadows, I clutched the bag to my chest. It was all the food I had for my grandmother and I until I got paid again. I couldn’t afford to part with it.

“So, what are we eating tonight?” Chad yanked on my sleeve then wrestled the bag from my arms.

Dan pushed me away as I tried to grab it back. He peeked inside. “Not much by the looks of it.” After pulling out the jug of milk, he tossed it to Mark.

“C’mon, guys. This is all I have.”

There’d been too many days recently where they’d taken all my food, and I’d gone without, sacrificing what I could find for my grandmother. Until recently, Lester, a racoon shifter from the neighborhood, would tell them to leave me alone, but he’d disappeared last month. And Mrs. Apple was too ill and bedridden to chase them away with her broom.

“You’re wrong.” Mark twisted the jug open then began to drink my milk. He wiped his mouth after chugging half of it. “It’s all we have.”

Come back tomorrow to read the rest of the chapter!
