Was everything he said a lie? Read a snippet from ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE #WeWriWa #8Sunday #romance #FREEread #friendstolovers

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you to all those who visited me last weekend with a snippet from CELESTIAL SEDUCTION! This weekend's Winter Scene snippet is from my only published title that takes place on a farm. ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE IS a friends to lovers new adult romance, and is FREE December 12-16, 2019!

Set-up: Leanne was involved in a farm accident where she lost one of her hands. the farmhand, Jake, has been helping at the farm alongside her, since before the accident, and he has a huge crush on her. This snippet happens the day after they confessed their feelings for each other, and made love. Leanne wakes up to find out Jake supposedly quit.

She spun around, running through the barn and out into the pasture. Her footsteps were heavy against the frosty ground, but she kept going until she reached the large maple tree at the edge of the fenced area.

Her tears flowed, freezing against her cheeks as she slid down the trunk. She pulled her knees to her chest and buried her head in her lap. Was everything Jake had said a lie? She’d given herself to him completely, and never truly received his love back? But why; why would he do such a thing? What had he gained?

She shivered with cold, but there was no way she’d return to the barn, ever. Everything there would remind her of Jake.

“We broke up Saturday night, before my…accident,” she said. “I want to remove him from my contact list.”

Tina handed the instrument to her and Leanne thumbed through her contacts to find Scott’s number. With the press of the delete button and the resulting beep, she erased him from her life forever.

Tina gathered her in a hug, rubbing her back. “I’m sorry.”

She reveled in the fact her friend didn’t say I told you so or tell her she deserved better. Tina was simply there, everything she needed at the moment. Loosening her grip, Leanne took a deep breath and leaned back on the bed. “Thank you for being here. And thanks for not being put off by the fact I’m no longer whole.”

“Why would I be anywhere else?” Tina gripped her arm again. “You’re still the same person. So what if you’re one hand less.” A tear trickled down her cheek. “Anyone who can’t see you’re still the same beautiful Leanne is an ass.”

“I agree.”

Leanne turned her head toward the doorway at the sound of the familiar husky voice. But the sight was not what she was used to at all. Instead of his dirty and smelly farm coveralls, Jake had on a T-shirt that stretched across his ripped chest, and his blue jeans hugged all the right places. He’d left the ball cap somewhere else, revealing the wave in his dark brown hair. When had he grown up from the teen she remembered in high school? His blue eyes were fixed on her as if she’d disappear if he glanced away.

But she wasn’t going anywhere. He might have saved her life, but she’d never be the same. Her dream of taking over the farm was shattered. She’d never work by his side again.

He acts like he doesn't care, but he does. Read an #excerpt from ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE #romance #friendstolovers #NewAdult

Hello! I hope you have been enjoying my December excerpts. Today's is from ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE, a story that is set on a small dairy farm and occurs over the fall and winter seasons. In the story, the heroine is in a serious accident, and it changes her perspective on everything. Happy reading!

Excerpt from ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE

Leanne ducked, trying to avoid the apple flying toward her. With its speed, it stirred her hair, but she avoided contact. Instead, the fruit smashed against the wall then fell to the floor, a mess of brown pulp and skin. She stood and glared at the source of the flying object. “Jake, you’re such an ass.”

He grinned at her from across the milking parlor, tossing into the air another rotten apple he must have grabbed when he put the cows out to pasture. “You’d better be nice to me, LA, if you want me to do your chores tonight.”

With a huff, she rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I wasn’t the one who threw fruit at your head.” She cursed him several times a day for such pranks. Often he’d tossed her in the manure pile or turned the pressure hoses on her. He lived with his family down the road, and if their parents weren’t such good friends, she would have told her father to fire Jake years ago.

“What do you have planned for tonight anyway?” He sauntered toward her, gripping the other apple so hard, she expected pulp to squeeze between his fingers. “Going out with your boyfriend?”

She cringed, hating how he mocked her with the word. “Jealous, much?”

Taking a step back, he scowled. “You wish. Why should I care who you date? You’re a grown woman.”

“I’m glad you noticed.” She reached down for a piece of straw and poked him in the chest with it. “So, why is it such a problem?”

He shrugged his shoulders, his expression suddenly indifferent. “I think you can do better.”

She poked him again. “What, like you?”

He leaned closer, his face only an inch from hers. His musky scent overpowered the sweet stench of the barn and filled her senses. If he hadn’t been a constant pain in her ass, she might have thought he was going to kiss her.

“In your dreams.”

Should have known. She chuckled and tapped his cheek a couple times with her palm. “I can honestly say you have never been in any of my dreams. Not even my nightmares. And if you must know, I’m going out with my friends from college.” She spun around and called over her shoulder. “Tomorrow I’ll be with Scott.” She headed out of the barn. A field of wheat waited for her, and she had to harvest it before she went out.
