Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing the another snippet from VAWN, the first book in my Sci-Fi MPreg MM Romance series, KADDIM BROTHERS. The story is finished and has been submitted.
Set-up: Last weekend I introduced you to Ojokun. He was running late to meet the guests arriving for the Family & Friends weekend.
This weekend I'm skipping a couple sentences, but answering some of your questions from last weekend. Plus, I'm introducing a couple of Ojokun's space racer teammates. Enjoy!
None of us had time for a serious relationship, and even if we did, we faced danger and possible death with every race. We thrived on adrenaline, something that didn’t match well with a committed relationship, and especially not with a family.
It had been at least a couple years since anyone on my team had left HQ to visit their parents or siblings. I didn’t know why I was labeled a ‘bad guy’ when I was more honest than any of them. The only part I hated was having a one-night stand who refused to accept I’d been telling the truth when I’d said I didn’t do relationships. They would refuse to leave my room in the morning without my contact information. But my teammates usually helped me out of those awkward situations.
Speaking of them, I saw two of the members I raced with as I sped through the automatic doors and into the main lobby. I knew Xac and Qé weren’t looking to pick up anyone. They were created on their home planet of Kcalb without any sexual feelings, but were a bonded pair in every other way. They were likely here to help any lost passengers.
VAWN
Kaddim Brothers book one
Vawn doesn’t need a mate. He’s already established himself universe-wide as a hot name in fashion, while raising his daughter. But he won’t say no to a fling with a hot space racer when he travels to Eurebly to visit his brothers. One night. That’s all he can give. Because his heart shattered when he lost his previous alpha, and he hasn’t been able to repair it completely. He refuses to love someone like that ever again.
Ojokun survived on Jenegath in order to leave the planet and become the best space racer in the universe. Though he flies with a team, he’s never depended on anyone outside of his jet. He keeps to himself. Has one-night stands, just like every other space racer. But, after a mind-blowing night with the brother of two of his teammates, he can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous omega, or the foreign longing that scares him more than his overly-protective teammates.
Can Ojokun convince Vawn that he wants more than one night? Or is that all they were ever meant to be?

Wow--that's some intriguing world building! Interesting that they were designed a specific way that did include the ability to bond, but lacking physical desire. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa! It's the difference between romantic and sexual attraction/love. Romance is often told where the two go hand-in-hand, but some people experience one or the other, or neither.
DeleteCool. I wonder about the exact purpose of removing their sexual feelings.
ReplyDeleteOh, they weren't removed. They were simply created without them, as well as without sexual organs.
DeleteGreat world building. I like the symmetry of two people who are adamantly against committed relationships who agree on a one night stand, and yet...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sheri! Yes, the "and yet" is key to this story. 😉
DeleteThis is such a cool premise, Jessica! I love the world you've created. Looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Julie!
DeleteIntriguing snippet. Our reality vs theirs - so different. great world building.
ReplyDeleteTweeted.
Thank you, Daryl! Some things are very different, but some are also meant to be the same.
DeleteMore than a few serious relationships have resulted from one-night stands, though it sounds like it'll take a lot of time and work for these two to get to that point.
ReplyDeleteVery true! And yes, neither are ready for or expecting more than one night.
DeleteI love the different worlds you build. The details make the story so interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Diane!
DeleteI'm enjoying the deep world building here. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Veronica!
DeleteInteresting premise. I'm intrigued to know more. Loved the snippet.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen!
DeleteNice world building.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to say he only wants one night stands - until the right person comes along. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Thank you, E.D.!
DeleteAnd yet rules, it seems, were meant to be broken. I wonder if Ojokun has heard of that rule? :) Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteOjokun often does his own thing. Thanks, Jenna!
