Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you to everyone who came to visit me last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing another snippet from TAYRYM, the fourth story in my Galactic Defenders series. Unlike the others before, TAYRYM is an MM romance.

Set-up: In last week's snippet, Gwenodyn learns what Tayrym is late for, but she still has so many questions for her best friend. We're getting closer to finding out Tayrym's secrets.... Enjoy!

“Oh, to get ready for your Defender training?” Her lower lip stuck out a bit as she moved to the side.

“Sure.” He didn’t want to tell her the true reason or listen to her whine about how much she’d miss him when he left. Not this morning.

She jumped in front of him. “You lie.”

Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath. “Stay out of my head, Gwen. Isn’t it unethical for Mingots to read minds without permission?”

Tayrym has dreamed of becoming a Galactic Defender since meeting the infamous Bryce when he was just a boy. Now an adult and awaiting the day cycle he is set to leave for training, Tayrym learns his long-time crush shares his affections. Now he's unsure whether he wants to leave, which dream matters more to him. 

With the threat of being sent away for his sexuality haunting him, Guri kept his feelings for his former classmate to himself. Even with a new progressive ruler on Hemera, he still hides his attraction to the young man. But when he catches the other shadowing him, Guri decides to take a chance. The only problem is, the man of his desire is leaving the planet soon. Possibly forever.

With obstacle after obstacle in their path, will Tayrym and Guri ever have a chance to be happy together? Or are they destined to fulfill their dreams light years apart?

10.) Commander Rafe Penzak is one of the side characters from my TriSystems: Rangers series, and a man very much in need of his happily ever after.

9.) Dr. Nafisi Sultana has been single-handedly taking care of the JTF Rangers’ breeding pack of Umbra Wolves – the animal partners with which the Rangers are empathically bonded.

8.) The wolfbond – the connection between a Ranger and an Umbra Wolf – is permanent, and if either bondmate dies, it can leave permanent scars on the psyche of the survivor.

7.) Hephaestus Secundus, where Nafisi’s farm is hidden, is a tiny, tidally locked moon that lives in the shadows (and gravity wells) of both another moon (Heph Prime) and a gas giant (Accipiter) in the Three Systems.

6.) Umbra Wolves are mostly invisible in natural (or indeed, unpolarized) light. This is a side effect of their fur, which acts as a meta-lens and turns them into wolf-shaped blurs. In the right wavelengths of polarized light, their fur appears black, making them visible.

5.) The JTF Rangers have been fighting a long series of skirmishes against a criminal organization known as Triptych, who are an alliance of pirates, thieves, and traffickers with their eyes on destabilizing the Three Systems.

4.) Nafisi still blames the Rangers for her husband’s death – their insistence on keeping the wolf ranch hidden meant she was too remote for her husband to get medical care that could have saved him.

3.) The death of Rafe’s wolf has left him unable to understand his own emotions, a permanent trauma that has left him detached from the world around him.

2.) Two wounded people, a pack of invisible wolves, a gang of murderous pirates, and a planet of perpetual darkness may just be the recipe for a happily ever after.

Late for his morning run. Read a #WeWriWa snippet from TAYRYM #GalacticDefenders #MMromance #scifiromance

Hello and welcome to my first Weekend Writing Warriors snippet from this blog! Sorry to all of you who went to visit me at my old blog last week, but weren't able to see my post. I know some of you caught it before my blog crashed. So, I've included last week's snippet from TAYRYM underneath this week's for those who didn't catch it, but still want to read it.

Set-up: In last week's snippet, Gwenodyn explained how she got in. Then Tayrym said he was late after realizing the time.... Enjoy!

“Late?” She shuffled back to stand in the doorway. “For what?”

“My morning run.” He pulled the clothing over his night shorts, not wanting to waste anymore time.

“Since when do you run?” Gwenodyn glared at him with her hands on her hips.

“I started two weeks ago.” He hoped that was enough of an explanation to get her out of the way so he could leave. Sure she was his best friend, but there were some aspects of his life he kept secret even from her.

From last weekend if you want to read it...

“How did you get in here?” His mom never would have let a girl in his room before he’d become an adult. Not that it would have mattered.

“Your mom was leaving for the market. She let me in and told me to wake you up.”

Market? It was that late in the morning already? “Cosmos! I’m late!” He scrambled off his bed and searched for a pair of pants and shirt to wear.
