Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing one final snippet from VAWN, the first book in my Sci-Fi MPreg MM Romance series, KADDIM BROTHERS.
Set-up: In the last snippet I shared from VAWN, Ojo was on vacation and found out that Vawn was vacationing on the same planet. He was about to jog past, believing Vawn had moved on, but then Vawn called out to him.
This weekend I'm continuing a few sentences later. (This is in Ojo's point of view, but Vawn speaks first.) Enjoy!
“Wow, I can’t believe you’re here, on this planet, at the same time as me.” He smiled like we were old friends.
I pointed my thumb over my shoulder, finally gaining control over my body. “Yeah, I was out for a jog, and I thought I recognized you, but I slowed to be sure.”
“Yeah, it’s me.” He quickly waved his hand, making the interaction feel awkward. “Have you had any luck finding a fuck buddy for your stay?”
I choked on the little spit in my mouth. No, that made things even worse. I thumped on my chest in an attempt to stop coughing.
**And some more if you want to read...**
A glass of water appeared in front of me. I took a drink, thankful for the relief.
“So, have you?” Vawn held his hand out for the glass.
I gave it back to him, unsure why he’d want to know. “I arrived here earlier today. Honestly, right before my jog.”
“Ah, I see.” He set the glass on a table before returning to the fence. “We just arrived this morning, too.”
We. Did that mean this was his family now? Though, why would any family travel to Rennir for a vacation? There was some piece of information I was missing.
“Then, would you like to have some fun with me tonight? You know, since we’re already familiar with each other?” Might as well take my shot, since I couldn’t get him out of my head anyway.
“Can’t.” His response was quick and simple yet still felt like a jab to the gut.
“Okay, I get it.” I backed away, ready to turn around and return to the hotel.
“No, that’s not what I meant.” He pushed the gate open and grabbed my arm. “I can’t tonight. My friend is going out, and I have to stay here—”
“Ah, the girl. I get it.” Turns out he was not only fantastic in bed but also a great friend, taking care of the other guy’s daughter so he could spend a night getting dicked down.
“But if you really want to have some fun with me again, we can get together tomorrow night. I had a good time when we hooked up on Eurebly.”
“Oh. I didn’t think so with how quickly you left after and didn’t leave me your information.” Shit, why was I spewing my insecurities all of a sudden? I had the date. I should accept it and go.
Vawn dug his toes into the sand. “Um, yeah, I had an emergency at home and had to leave right away. I really wasn’t thinking clearly.”
I didn’t know if he was making an excuse or telling the truth. His brothers wouldn’t have told me either way. “Okay, let’s meet up tomorrow. Can I get your info this time so we can figure out where to meet, then?”
“Sure.” He dashed into the yard to fetch his communicator.
**So, does that mean everything is smooth sailing from here? (insert evil author laugh) Not a chance! But, they're closer to being together, at least. You'll have to read their story to find out what happens next. And I'll try to have snippets from GENJ, the next Kaddim Brothers story, as soon as possible.
VAWN
Kaddim Brothers book one
Vawn doesn’t need a mate. He’s already established himself universe-wide as a hot name in fashion, while raising his daughter. But he won’t say no to a fling with a hot space racer when he travels to Eurebly to visit his brothers. One night. That’s all he can give. Because his heart shattered when he lost his previous alpha, and he hasn’t been able to repair it completely. He refuses to love someone like that ever again.
Ojokun survived on Jenegath in order to leave the planet and become the best space racer in the universe. Though he flies with a team, he’s never depended on anyone outside of his jet. He keeps to himself. Has one-night stands, just like every other space racer. But, after a mind-blowing night with the brother of two of his teammates, he can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous omega, or the foreign longing that scares him more than his overly-protective teammates.
Can Ojokun convince Vawn that he wants more than one night? Or is that all they were ever meant to be?
