Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all those who visited last weekend! This weekend, I'm sharing the another snippet from VAWN, the first book in my Sci-Fi MPreg MM Romance series, KADDIM BROTHERS. This story has been contracted to Decadent Publishing, and I'll share more details about a cover and release date as I get them.
Set-up: Last weekend Ojokun tried to pick up Vawn by offering to carry his luggage. And when he introduced himself, Vawn knew who he was. But, Ojo still didn't know who Vawn was.
This weekend Ojo is about to find out just who he tried to pick up. Enjoy!
They’d heard of me. Yet, I couldn’t tell if that was good or bad based on their expression. So, I decided to be sweet Ojo instead of cocky Ojo. I dug the toe of my shoe into the floor. “Yeah, that’s me. I was hoping maybe we could get a drink together sometime this weekend.”
Instead of blushing and being flattered, like I’d hoped they’d react, they laughed in my face. “I think we’ll be seeing a lot of each other this weekend.” They pursed their lips in a smirk and raised their eyebrows. “My name is Vawn. I’m pretty sure you know my brothers quite well, since they’re both on your team.”
**And a few more for your reading pleasure.**
Shit! Of all the guests I could have been attracted to, it had to be a Kaddim. “Well, that’s unfortunate.” I didn’t know much about the youngest brother, as Ret and Genj would always stop discussing him when I was around, but the likelihood of interacting with him apart from scheduled team events was nil. His brothers would keep him occupied and away from me. I’d have to find someone else to warm my bed.
At the same time as I felt a presence on either side of me, each of the older Kaddim brothers gripped my shoulder and squeezed.
“Thank you for much for coming to meet our baby brother.” Genj let go of me and reached for Vawn’s travel case.
Ret hooked his arm with that of his youngest brother and walked him right past me as if I didn’t exist.
VAWN
Kaddim Brothers book one
Vawn doesn’t need a mate. He’s already established himself universe-wide as a hot name in fashion, while raising his daughter. But he won’t say no to a fling with a hot space racer when he travels to Eurebly to visit his brothers. One night. That’s all he can give. Because his heart shattered when he lost his previous alpha, and he hasn’t been able to repair it completely. He refuses to love someone like that ever again.
Ojokun survived on Jenegath in order to leave the planet and become the best space racer in the universe. Though he flies with a team, he’s never depended on anyone outside of his jet. He keeps to himself. Has one-night stands, just like every other space racer. But, after a mind-blowing night with the brother of two of his teammates, he can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous omega, or the foreign longing that scares him more than his overly-protective teammates.
Can Ojokun convince Vawn that he wants more than one night? Or is that all they were ever meant to be?

Ah - darn - he dreams were dashed. Might have to have a quiet nights sleep.
ReplyDeleteTweeted.
Oh, but the weekend isn't over yet. Thank you, Daryl!
DeleteOver protective much? Well, that ended that fantasy . . . but just for the moment.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are very overprotective of their youngest brother. But, Vawn might have something to say about that.
DeleteExcellent job bring the awkwardness in this scene to life. If I were Ojokun, I'd feel like the people in those 'You wanna get away?' commercials.
ReplyDeleteI also got the calculating, manipulating, me-me-me vibes from Ojokun in this snippet. Right now he's 'all about me', and you've really identified that here.
Thanks for your encouraging words on my snippet, Jessica. :-)
He is very much about his own needs at this point in the story. But, it's still only the beginning. Thank you, Teresa!
DeleteWell that represents quite a challenge, I'm sure. Great snippet! I love the over protective brothers...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Veronica!
DeleteOlder brothers to the rescue! I liked how Vawn didn't seem as flattered as Ojo thought he should be :)
ReplyDeleteVawn has his own plans for this weekend, which he knows his brothers won't be happy about, either.
DeleteThis was a rather enigmatic scene, ending in Oko further from goal than ever.
ReplyDeleteOr so he thinks. But, it's not the end of the scene yet.
DeleteThere's nothing like the intrusion of an older sibling to spoil a budding romance!
ReplyDeleteAh, but Vawn is an adult and has his own objective for this weekend.
DeleteA bit awkward, but I'm sure things will change later on.
ReplyDeleteYes, very awkward. And it's going to take quite some time for that to change.
DeleteSounds like this is just a setback. Vawn didn't seem unwilling to entertain the idea of Ojokun's advances. He'd just have to get his brothers to chill...well, maybe not. Great snippet! I can see all their expressions in my mind so well. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jenna! Yes, Vawn isn't done either, but he knows what his brothers are like. The weekend has just begun. LOL
DeletePoor Ojo. All that calculated flirting, only for Vawn to see right through it. This might be a hard conquest for him.
ReplyDeleteAh, it may be easier than you think.
