Hello and welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you to all of you who visited me last weekend! MINK OMEGA IN HIDING is an MM paranormal romance, the second book in my Shifter Towers series, is now available.
Set-up: In last weekend's snippet. Roan quickly ended the conversation. But is he done talking? I'm skipping a few sentences to where Hansol tries for more information. (Punctuation changed to make it fit the ten sentence limit.) This is in Hansol's POV.
“Hey, from what I saw earlier, you seem to be good with a knife; definitely better than me.” I slid a cutting board, chopping knife, and various vegetables in his direction. “You can cut them up while you tell me about how you got involved with the Tanks you mentioned last night. I’ll take care of the meat; I don’t need another burnt pan.”
I meant it as a joke, but Roan’s face paled. Unsure what part of what I’d said had caused that reaction, I playfully nudged his shoulder. “C’mon, Roan, it’s me. We were best friends. I haven’t changed that much. I’m sure you haven’t, either.”

Shifter Towers book two
Roan is looking for a way out...
As a mink shifter omega, I never thought I’d escape the soul-crushing, gang-ruled world I lived in. But, one night on my way home from working at the strip club, the opportunity arose. I needed to find a place to hide, somewhere I could go where no one from this life would ever find me. Someplace I could start over. With my parents deceased, I only had one person from my past I could ask for help. But would he want to see me again?
Hansol has everything in his life, except his mate…
After two years of running a successful fitness center with celebrities as my personal clients and friends, one would think I had everything I’ve ever wanted. But I don’t. The one thing I still desire is to have my mate by my side. Something my sun bear keeps reminding me of every day. Sure, I’ve had plenty of omegas and other alphas in my bed, but no one I want to wake up with each morning. That person left my life years ago with no explanation and no goodbye.
Will they find their way back to each other?
Then Roan shows up on my doorstep, soaking wet, and with no belongings. Of course, I take him in. But I don’t know how long I have until he leaves again. Can I trust him this time? Can I finally claim him as my mate? Or am I holding onto false hope? Because I know there is something he is keeping from me.
Mink Omega in Hiding is a super sweet with knotty heat shifter M/M mpreg romance featuring a mink shifter escaping horrific abuse, a reconnection with an alpha friend from the past who stands between him and danger, and the discovery of what really could happen between them. It is the second book in the popular Shifter Towers series and can be read as a standalone.

This snippet has me worried and upset for the two old friends. Deep breath here as I hope something good is about to happen. Jessica, You have created a wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of healing that needs to happen. Not only for Roan himself, but also his friendship with Hansol. Keeping everything in won't help with the healing. But, it will take time. Thanks so much, Charmaine!
DeleteHe keeps nudging and trying to get to the truth. Good for him!
ReplyDeleteYes, they were extremely close at one time, so he doesn't want to give up.
DeleteGood hook. I want to know which part made him pale, too! :-) Good snippet, Jessica!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa!
DeleteGood friends isn't enough for one. How painful that must be (only for the moment, one hopes!).
ReplyDeleteRoan has a lot of healing to do, but Hansol wants to be by his side through it all.
DeleteThere were actually a lot of possible triggers in what he just said. I'm sure that level of honesty will be hard for Roan to deal with so quickly.
ReplyDeleteYes, there were. Roan wants to trust him based on their previous close friendship, but may never reveal everything.
DeleteI admire Hansol for how hard he's trying to keep the relationship working and the dialog between them going. Great snippet! I love using the kitchen as the setting...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Veronica! I like using the setting as part of the action, instead of just describing it, whenever possible.
DeleteI admire how Hansol keeps trying to find out what happened to Roan. And he doesn't give up. What a good friend.
ReplyDeleteYes, he wants to rekindle the friendship they once had, and help Roan however he can.
DeleteSomehow I think Roan is reacting to Hansol's suggestion he talk about the Tanks. Gangs don't like it when former members give up information on them, even insignificant info. If so, Roan does need to be careful.
ReplyDeleteVery true! It all depends on how much he feels he can trust Hansol.
DeleteHansol is sure trying to make the relationship work. I hope he can. Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteYes, he's got a lot riding on it. Thank you, Karen!
DeleteHansol is very wise about choosing a kitchen role for Roan.
ReplyDeleteYes, he doesn't want to have the smoke detector go off again.
